This page contains my semi-official binaries of the current version 1.0.3 of ORTEP for the Linux operating system. At the moment, only PC versions are available. Please send bug reports concerning these binaries to martin@ruby.chemie.uni-freiburg.de (and not to ORNL) unless you are certain that it is a general Ortep problem.

An alternative X11/Ortep shell

This is a slightly modified version of the ortep-for-sun code that was written some years ago by Norimasa Yamazaki to provide an editor/previewer combination based on Sun's OpenView toolkit. (The original code is probably still available somewhere on ftp.osc.edu). I have only simplified his labelling code to work around a few huge memory leaks and adapted the code to Ortep III (and vice versa).


A simple SHELX to ORTEP converter module

This was originally written by Mike Burnett of ORNL, and later modified (not necessarily improved) by me.
